The Employment Program provides the long sought and vital step toward self-sufficiency for our refugee clients. The goal of the Employment Program is to connect refugees with employers throughout Chicagoland. IRIM offers over 20 years of accumulated experience addressing the employment needs of refugees.
IRIM proactively seeks out employers dedicated to a diverse work force. Job Developers facilitate this diversity by connecting the right candidate to the right job opening. For employers, we provide:
- No fee employment services offering access to a diverse applicant pool
- 100% permanently work-authorized candidates guaranteed
- Pre-screened candidates that match your job openings
- Preparatory orientations for both pre- and post-hire activity
- Translators for interviews, training sessions, and orientations
- Mediation services & regular client follow-up
Refugees come to the United States with a wide variety of skill levels and education. All come with the motivation to rebuild their lives through success in the workplace.
In most cases, refugees bring years of experience and a wide variety of transferable skills. Some refugees were doctors, lawyers, engineers, business owners, professors, teachers, or highly skilled crafts people. Others refugees arrive with career experience in hospitality, production, agriculture, and sales.
Job Developers at IRIM prepare refugees, whatever their background, for both the pre-hire and post-hire process. We offer our clients job readiness training in the following:
- Expectations and professionalism in the American workplace
- Job search methods & search assistance
- Application and interview skills building
- Resume creation / conversion
- Long-term career goals and how to achieve them
This training insures that both refugee employees and the employers who hire them will gain the mutual satisfaction of a job well done.
Our clients are motivated, adaptable, flexible, and are guided by serious career intentions. Because of their unusual life histories, too often a story of opportunity ruined by years of war and persecution, refugees are unusually motivated to become a part of the workforce and regain the stability and hope that a career can offer.
